Talk about spending money

This is just the beginning of year 2011, and I am already spending my $ like drinking water. First I signed up for a surfing course with Blueforestsurf then I got myself a new hairdo which I heart the end result heaps!

I was spending the 2nd weekend of 2011 in Cherating to get myself equipped with surfing skills. I always wanted to learn how to surf becoz:
a) I think it helps in building a nice slim body with lean muscles
b) I was inspired by Demi Moore in Charlies Angels, remember the scene of how stylish and gorgeous she looks when she walked to the shore with a surfing board... awww...
c)I am a very beach person, anything associates with the beach and sea, I am into it!

To learn how to surf was my new year resolution for the past two years, but I never put in effort to find out the details, mainly because my ex-boyfriend told me he is into it too, but I need to wait until he got the time for it or rather me as he is always "busy"... Girls, a reminder: If you have a dream of your own, go for it, life is too short to be wasted on waiting for something that might not even happen... especially with guys... It might not be fair to be applied to all the guys in the world, but those that I've met... they have problems in keeping their promises, so I've learnt long ago to not listen to their words but to look at their actions!

I paid rm599 for the course and the accomodation. I must say Rm599 is over priced. There were two instructors for me n two of my travel buddies. The instructors, Simon & Helmi, the latter is the better coach with lotsa patience. They taught us the theories and practical in the swimming pool first befor we proceed to do the real thing in the seawater. As it was the monsoon period, it was raining the whole day, waves were rough, sky was gloomy, wind was strong... a total combination in making my first surf a life challenging one, did i mention that I am a weak swimmer..? LOL

Don't be fooled by our smiley faces, it was so cold that I was afraid of getting to the hypothermia state
trying to balance my weight on the long board... Looking at this, made me realise that I've got a very long body! haha...

I always thought standing on a long board is the toughest part of surfing, but the surfing trip proves me wrong. Pedalling out to the sea fighting the waves are far more tougher than standing on the board, it took me less than 15mins for me to stand on a long board! But throughout the 3days, I never managed to pedal to the water level beyond my height :(

Waiting for the wave to push me to the shore so that I can stand on the long board while its moving
Got swept off my long board, and my instructor Simon is trying to get me to the nicest spot before I try again.

and... Ta-da... Look at my expression, of that stupid victorious smile, that's how fun surfing can be!

I will, definitely, go for more surfing trips, perhaps to Bali when I've found myself a good travel companion. I already have my itinerary planned out for travelling to Bali, surfing and partying at Kuta, mountain climbing, water rafting, caving and diving... indulging in nice local delicacies, get pampered at spas and massage parlours... aww... I just can't wait already!

Surfing in Cherating is awesome, and I heard from the experienced surfers, Cherating is one of the toughest spot to surf in Asia unlike the ones in Bali and Padang which can be really friendly. So, I can still comfort myself a lil even though I didn't make it to the deeper water level, nxt time, at somewhere else which are more surfer friendly, I have faith that I will not let myself down! :P
